Wiki Spammers I've only got one word for the jackasses who keeps on repeatedly spamming my wiki: "RUN!" [@531]
Mobibot 0.2 Mobibot v0.2 is now running on the #mobitopia IRC channel. I rewrote most of the feed generation code using Rome 0.4, which allows me to save everything directly to RSS feeds and read them back as needed. A much better solution than saving/reading serial objects. Tiger Purring Java 5.0 is still holding. I haven't noticed any problems. GoDaddy Rocks! I just renewed one of my SSL certs thru GoDaddy. $29.95 for a year. Amazing. Norton SystemWorks I upgraded to Norton SystemWorks 2005 over the weekend. For some reason GoBack won't install on my desktop machine, but apart from that everything seems to work as advertised.

MePain in the neck I've had a stiff neck for the last few days. I tried to sleep it off, but it's still quite painful. Tylenol 8-Hour seems to help a bit. JavaJava 5.0 I'm now running this blog, my linkblog and mobibot under Java 5. So far, so good.

Charlie was nice enough to send me a Nokia 7610 to play with. I received it late last week. Very nice phone. I'll post a detailed review soon.

JavaJava Web Start 5.0

I'm having problems with most Java Web Start applications under Java 5.0. I keep on getting the following:

Javaws 5 Error

Does anybody know of a way to fix that problem? I've looked around to no avail. Please let me know.

Language Barrier

MeLanguage Barrier Yesterday night, I spent an hour on a conference call with a contact at NEC Japan. For some reason I was expecting to talk to someone with a good command of the English language. I must have been living here too long. It is amazing what you can accomplish with a few basic words (and email), even when dealing with fairly technical issues. FamilyMariners Vicki's brother scored a couple tickets for a Mariners game this Saturday. He will not be able to go, so we're going. I haven't been to a baseball game in over 10 years. Last time was at Candlestick Park for a Giants game. We've never been inside Safco Field either. Kind of exciting…

HumorRedneck Olympics

  • Doves released during opening ceremonies are promptly shot by the crowd and sold as concession snacks.
  • In an amazing coincidence, every proposed Olympic venue turns out to be owned by the Governor.
  • The big event is the 100m Sisterchase.
  • Instead of shooting at boring targets, archers take aim at muskrats and ATF agents.
  • Urine drug test transformed into "Distance Pissin Competition."
  • Olympic Village replaced with Olympic Trailer Park.
  • Awards of gold, silver and bronze medals replaced by award of gold, silver, and bronze teeth.
  • Opening Ceremony is a Skynyrd tape and a trunk full of bottle rockets.
  • Hometown favorites falter in gymnastics competitions due to all them extra toes.
  • Two words: Billy Bobsledding.
