GoDaddy Online Calendar

We just signed up for GoDaddy's Online Group Calendar. $19.95 a year, up to 5 users. Works like a charm. It does everything we used to do with Webcalendar, and then some.

Half a ton

We are renting a cargo van from Enterprise to help with the move. Yesterday we did a dump run. We basically got rid of all the junk in the kitchen, and most of the living room. Half a ton of crap when it was all said and done. Talk about a workout… I loaded the van all by myself.

Moved… I just moved www.thauvin.net to the new server. The backend databases have been running on there for a few days now, so there shouldn't be any problems. Please let me know if you find anything wrong.

Gone Moving… We're on the final stretch of the move. We must be all moved in by July 1st. We are planning on taking daily trips to the condo. A lot to be done. Which why I've decided to put the linkblog on hold until we're all settled in. A 10 days break in 5+ years is probably well-deserved. I'm also in the process of moving my personal servers to a co-lo.

First Night We are spending our first night at the new condo. It was kind of late by the time we got done with dinner, so we decided to stay instead of driving back to Bellevue. We just had the microwave/hood and dishwasher installed. The range was delivered on Monday. We're still waiting on the new fridge. Our first pick turned out to be too wide. We found another model which should be delivered next week. DSL from Verizon is working too, even though they sent me the wrong DSL modem. I should have gotten the wireless one instead of this USB/Ethernet piece of sh*t. The proper one is on its way. Nevertheless, for $29.99 a month, 3MB/768K is really not bad. I really can't complain.

Erik's Pulse has been published. This pulse was written in the new condo while waiting for Ikea to assemble our new furnitures. I originally though I would have to use a dialup connection, since our DSL won't be installed until the 13th. Luckily I was able to piggyback on a neighbor's wifi. Open wireless networks rule!

Mac OS x86

So Apple announced Mac OS X for x86…

Hardly a surprise. Apple has been working on x86 support for many years, off and on.

If you're expecting to be running Mac OS X on your next Dell's… Keep on dreaming. I'm pretty sure you'll have to buy an Apple-branded PC in order to be able to run OS X.

What I'm wondering is… Who is going to keep on buying the current PPC-based Macs? Is Jobs really willing to forgo sales in order to insure that developers have plenty of time to convert their applications?

There isn't much information out yet, we should get more details in the next few hours.

Paint & Carpet I met with our painter/repair guy this morning to finalize everything. He came highly recommended by our home inspector. His bid was right within our budget. His company is going to repaint the condo top to bottom, re-carpet, fix a few minor cosmetic things as well as perform the move-in cleaning. The next step is to pick a carpet style/color. All of it should be done by the end of next week. Furnitures We'll be heading to Ikea over the weekend (tax-free) to buy our new furnitures. So far we've decided on the following: We'll try to have it all delivered and assembled at the end of next week. The Pulse
