Movies (2002-2000)

2002
LOTR: The Two Towers

Same exact feelings as the first one, maybe just a tad better.

Maid In Manhattan

Same formula as Pretty Woman. Cute.

Die Another Day

A jolly good time, despite a weak opening sequence.

Femme Fatale

A little bit of thrill. A little bit of erotism. A little bit of this. A little bit of that. Just a little bit.

Abandon

No surprises and often slow, yet we kinda enjoyed it.

The Transporter

A gem in the action genre. Some of the best (and funniest) fight scenes I've seen in a very long time.

Sweet Home Alabama

Predictable and a little slow at times. Yet enjoyable and sweet.

Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever

Quite different from what the trailers led to believe. We liked it.

Signs

Good signs. Bad aliens. M. Night Shyamalan rules.

Reign of Fire

Lit my fire. Quite entertaining.

Men In Black II

Major case of déjà vu, but still entertaining.

Minority Report

By far the best Spielberg movie I've ever seen. A masterpiece in the futuristic thriller genre.

Scooby Doo

Scooby don't, unless you're under 10 years old.

The Bourne Identity

Well paced and very entertaining. A solid blend of suspense and action. Demon turns out to be pretty good Jason Bourne.

Sum Of All Fears

Well paced and very entertaining. A solid blend of suspense and action. Affleck turns out to be pretty good as young Jack Ryan.

Star Wars: Episode II

Attack of the Clowns. The piecemeal plot wasn't helped by the bad acting. Enough said.

Spider-Man

Spidey fans will enjoy this movie as it follows the comic book story to the letter. Quite entertaining overall, but it was definitely no X-Men.

The Scorpion King

Action galore, no surprises but well worth the ride, which is quite impressive considering the relatively low budget. The Rock has potential.

Panic Room

The best thriller I've seen in a long, long time. This is what happens when you combine a good story with some great actors and one hell of a director.

Collateral Damage

Arnie's back in the saddle. Lots of action and a clever storyline. What else can you ask for?

2001
The Lords Of The Rings

I just wasn't enticed by the movie. The special effects were good, but weren't anything I hadn't seen before.

Spy Game

Just the right blend of action and suspense. Redford has played similar characters before, but he's really good at it. Pitt held his own.

The One

Jet Li showing is range in a dual role, as both the hero and villain. As usual, the futuristic fight scenes were superbly executed.

American Pie 2

A very worthy sequel which doesn't repeat any of the first installment's gags and still manages to be hilarious at times.

Planet Of The Apes

Extremely well-paced fun, and thankfully, none of the perpetual cheesy moral dilemmas that made the original such a bore.

The Score

Even good acting could not help a predictable storyline coupled with a few lame action scenes.

Kiss Of The Dragon

Jet Li reprises the same type of role as in Romeo Must Die. Less humor, more action. Works for me.

Swordfish

Travolta is quite a likable bad guy. Some great (and unexpected) action sequences made for a pretty good ride. Halle Berry pointlessly flashes early on but was, reportedly, well compensated for her valiant showing.

The Mummy Returns

I think I liked it better than the first one. Funnier and much more sustained. The Rock's role is nothing more than what is shown in the trailers. I wouldn't change career quite yet, Rocky.

Exit Wounds

Nobody kicks ass like Seagal does. DMX delivers a pretty good performance too.

Get Over It

Simply forgot to bring it on.

Head Over Heels

No surprises, just cute and funny.
