LaCie Ethernet Disk Mini Firmware Rollback
<1 min read
If you are ever in need to rollback the firmware on your LaCie Ethernet Disk Mini. Here is how to do it…
There are two ways to reset this unit to its default settings:
Web browser method
-Go to the Configuration page in the Web Admin
-Click on the blue button next to Updates
-On the next page, click on the blue button next to Updates Log.
-Click on the "Remove all the updates" link on the bottom-right of the page.
The product should now be reset to its factory default settings.
Hardware method
-When pushing the power button to switch the drive ON, keep holding the power button until the blue LED of the power button starts to flicker and then release the button.
-Then, after 1 or 2 seconds the button's LED should flicker with another rhythm.
-Push the button again. After a few seconds, the LED will flicker again but with a third different rhythm. Release the button.
-If the drive turns off then the power button was held in two long during the last step, please try again if the drive powers off.
The product should now be reset to its factory default settings.
Thanks to Jeff from LaCie's tech support for the info.
I had to rollback because of compatibility problems with the UPnP-AV media server and the latest firmware for my D-Link DSM-520 MediaLounge.

I think I missed something or then my own lacie ethernet disk mini is too old for the default factory reset. I have the 320 GB version without the UPNP and I don't see another flickering after the hard reset.

Thanks for the tip. Tell me, have you been succesfully using the D-Link media lounge to play media from the mini>? From other pages on your blog it seems the answer is yes. I'm considering buying one and I wanted to know how easily the setup from MediaLounge to Mini works.
Also, do you know of any way to stream video and audio back to the PC using the medialounge or is truly only one way and therefore the other solutions are Happauge or Slingbox? (to set up a DVR).
Thanks,
Randall

Yes, I've been using my Ethernet Disk Mini with both a DSM-520 and DSM-320RD since I bought it. Works like a charm. Setup is as simple as can be.
I did experience a bit of a problem where the MediaLounge(s) would treat the mini media server as an XBox and things would go funky. The solution to that problem is to change (and lock, once it works) the IP address of the mini. Haven't had a single problem since.
I believe you can use the latest MediaLounge (DSM-750) as a Windows Media Center extender.
Hope this helps,
E.

A good friend of mine had the exact same problem. We emailed LaCie and they said it was most likely the power supply. They sent us a new one which fixed the problem right up.
Apparently there are big issues with the power supply, mine had to be replaced too. I did have to send my disk back to LaCie. It came back fully reformatted with a new firmware.
Hope this helps,
E.

The following works on my lacie ethernet disk mini:

-Then, after 1 or 2 seconds the button's LED should flicker with another rhythm.
-Push the button again. After a few seconds, the LED will flicker again but with a third different rhythm. Release the button.

I've got a problem with my lacie ethernet disk mini. It powers up but doesn't boot up. I can't access it via ethernet or USB so I can't get access to my photos and videos.
If I do a hard reset using the technique specified - will I lose all my media content?
Thanks in advance

software will not show any documents on the
media section anymore , I've tried the 'rebuild Database' option but still won't show anything.
Will it work If I reset the unit to factory settings?
Thanks

I believe you have to re-create your share using the same names, etc.
