Erik's Pulse has been published. This pulse was written in the new condo while waiting for Ikea to assemble our new furnitures. I originally though I would have to use a dialup connection, since our DSL won't be installed until the 13th. Luckily I was able to piggyback on a neighbor's wifi. Open wireless networks rule!

Mac OS x86

So Apple announced Mac OS X for x86

Hardly a surprise. Apple has been working on x86 support for many years, off and on.

If you're expecting to be running Mac OS X on your next Dell's… Keep on dreaming. I'm pretty sure you'll have to buy an Apple-branded PC in order to be able to run OS X.

What I'm wondering is… Who is going to keep on buying the current PPC-based Macs? Is Jobs really willing to forgo sales in order to insure that developers have plenty of time to convert their applications?

There isn't much information out yet, we should get more details in the next few hours.

Paint & Carpet I met with our painter/repair guy this morning to finalize everything. He came highly recommended by our home inspector. His bid was right within our budget. His company is going to repaint the condo top to bottom, re-carpet, fix a few minor cosmetic things as well as perform the move-in cleaning. The next step is to pick a carpet style/color. All of it should be done by the end of next week. Furnitures We'll be heading to Ikea over the weekend (tax-free) to buy our new furnitures. So far we've decided on the following: 00 We'll try to have it all delivered and assembled at the end of next week. The Pulse

15K My linkblog has reached a new milestone, 15K worth of links. Undoubtedly, one of, if not, the largest non-community-based linkblog out there. New Digs! It's official. We now own the new condo. The title was transfered/recorded on Monday night around 6pm. Now the fun really begins… packing and moving… The Pulse Erik's Pulse has been published.

GooglME 0.4.2

GooglME 0.4.2 I've just released GooglME 0.4.2. This version includes the latest round of fixes for the Sony Ericsson T616. Since I don't have a T616 to test with, it took me a while to figure it all out. In typical Java-fashion, write once, test everywhere. The T616 JVM doesn't seem to like it when you attempt to store data in a separate thread. Moving the data storage calls outside of the thread fixed the problem. Slow Tiger Kernel

HP Color LaserJet 2550L

Bluetooh Print Adapater. The Bluetooth-enabled driver is built-in under Mac OS X 10.4. I'm using the HP Mobile Printing driver under Windows XP. One drawback so far, it's big. Slow Tiger Kernel As an alternative to the Cisco VPN client, we've been trying to get VPN Tracker to work on Vicki's powerbook. After a few calls to the IT department, we all decided that it would be best to talk to Equinux directly. We called them yesterday morning and were told without uncertainty that the Mac OS X 10.4 kernel is too slow to handle most VPN protocols. Apparently Apple has been made aware of the problem for a while now, and they are working on it. That would explain why Cisco was not able to get a new driver out in time for the Tiger release.
