Tomcat 4.0.2 Upgrade

The server was down for a while this afternoon. I made the mistake of trying to upgrade to Tomcat 4.0.2. I think I'll wait until they have all the bugs worked out.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Collateral Damage

We saw it over the weekend and both liked it.

I was wondering on Arnie's site and found some of his t-shirts for sale. Maximum size, X-Large. What's the underlined message? Buy stuff the man himself could not actually wear?

Well, at least, it is all for a good cause.

Pocket Chameleon

Too bad they won't be selling it anytime soon. I'd be interested in something like it.

Médaille d'Or

Congrats to Kelly for winning our first gold medal, that 720 at the end of her run got me stoked too. Only reporters would ask a French person how to pronounce a word in German.

NBC's coverage of the Olympics sucks. The coverage is minimal but they still manage to repeat the same events over and over. Costas seriously gets on my nerves too. We end up watching CBC instead. Did you know that the we actually have a Curling team?

Apparently Salt Lake City is too cold for the Dutch athletes. Now, that's funny!

Start-Up Blues

Mis-management is an art a lot of people excel in. No degrees required.

Online Testosterone

The diet is working. I've already lost a little weight. Since Men's Health is behind the book, I decided to sign-up for their Diet Planner.

What a joke.

It looked pretty good at first, until I saw the grocery list it generated. They wanted me to buy six different kind of fruit juices. It forced me to have a look at the menus, in details. Chicken salad and roasted chicken for dinner; they oughta be kidding. Not to mention that they kept on wanting me to drink skim milk when I clearly indicated my preference for 1%. They obviously took the easy way out, and lined up food items solely based on daily requirements. I would have had to spend hours modifying the menus with substitutions to make it work for me, which hardly seemed worth it.

Another major problem is that they had me at 2500 calories a day while the book wants me right around 2000. 500 extra calories is a lot, especially when you're trying to loose weight.

The exercise programs weren't any better. They clearly didn't follow the book's recommendations.

I hope the authors come up with a book of recipes or something, the ones listed in the book are really good.

Docs

I'm putting together the documentation for one of our forthcoming product. It's always the same for me when I work on docs, at first I don't want to do it, simply hate it. Then I really get into it and actually enjoy myself. I wonder why I'm so reticent at first.

Wheaton on Bush

"Speaking of Emperor Bush, how about that new budget? Yay! Defecit spending is back! We're gonna party like it's 1989! Pick up your Rubik's Cube, and put some shoulder pads in your T-shirt!"

Speaking of Will, there's a nice article about him in this week's People magazine.

Gore on Bush

"Whatever anyone wants to say, I believe Bill Clinton and I did a good job on the economy. But now, our economy is back in recession, an unbelievable $4 trillion in projected surpluses have disappeared in a single year and public investments in priorities like job training, school construction and health care are once again being slashed."

He's baaaaack!

Moore on Bush

"It's kind of sad when you think about it. Here you were -- the most popular president ever! -- the recipient of so much good will from your fellow Americans after September 11, and then you had to go and blow it. You just couldn't stay away from your old cowpoke friend from Texas, Kenneth Lay."

Blog Time

"I believe this is the first time in my life I've had something in common with RuPaul."

The saga continues… Took four days for them to receive and process the last two DVDs we sent back. I doubt I'll be extending my subscription when it runs out.

Déjà Vu Editor

I've been using EditPlus for quite a while now. It is simply not working out. I'm back to UltraEdit.

EditPlus is nice, but lacks too many features for me to use it efficiently.

One of my original problem with UltraEdit was the like of JSP support. I should have looked into it a little bit more. RTFM. I was able to quickly locate a supplemental JSP word list which does a pretty good job with syntax highlighting.

I wasn't able to find a JSP tag list, though. So I decided to write my own late last night and already made it available for download. It references all JSP directive, action and tag library tags as well as frequently used built-in objects. Give it a try, if you're interested, and let me how it works for you.

It only took me about an hour to configure UltraEdit to my liking. Thank God for user-configurable toolbars and shortcuts.
