macMac OS X 10.1.1 Update sneak peek. I don't see anything relating to the original iMac screen geometry bug. Bummer.

blogThe RSS 2.0 debate degenerates. This is becoming completely ridiculous.

People have to understand one thing: RSS 2.0 is not an open standard. It just masquerades as one. The underlaying purpose is to promote UserLand's products.

Everything become a lot clearer when you keep that in mind.

personalJust received the replacement SuperDisk I bought on eBay. A bad floppy killed the old one a few weeks ago. The metal slider got stuck in the drive and damaged it beyond repair.

meMy grandmother's twin sister died yesterday. She was 89 years old. My grandma called late last night to give me the news. She sounded pretty down, but said she felt better after talking to me.

macLasso 3.x goes bye-bye. Sniff. Lots of blood, sweat and tears went into the original release. Turning a Mac-only product into a viable cross-platform middleware was an interesting experience.

newsThe First Smiley :-)

javaI've implemented a calendar for the news page. I used jTalk and a slightly modified version of the Coldbeans Calendar tag library.

It's definitely not as elegant as Mike's <webwork:calendar/> design sketch, but then again it only took less than 30 minutes to implement, test and deploy. KISS.

I've also upgraded the server to Tomcat 4.1.10 which seems to provide a significant performance boost. The install wasn't as painless as it could have been. The RPM replaced my server.xml configuration file and forgot to tell me about it.

windowsMike likes Trillian Pro. I gave it a try and liked it so much that I bought a copy too.

macI also upgraded to FileBuddy 7.

javaRick is looking for an open source calendar tag library. I'd be interested in such a taglib too. I've been thinking about implementing some kind of calendar for this blog for quite a while now.

windowsalphaWorks: Lightweight services for JavaScript & Python. Cool!

macBrent has released TigerLaunch 1.0b1. Nifty.

It'd be even cooler if you could drag a document onto one of the application in the menu to open it. Maybe it can be done via a contextual menu or something. That's why I keep a folder with all of my apps in the dock.

You might also want to check Brent's Cocoa XML-RPC Demo.

javaApache AXIS 1.0 RC1 is now available. I used one of the early release to build jTalk's Web Services client tags. The feature set was pretty limited. I'll definitely have to revisit it soon.

Save FarscapejavaMacromedia ships ColdFusion MX for Java. Three years ago, everybody assumed I was losing my marbles, when I predicted that CF would ultimately move to Java. Guess who's laughing now?

javaThe world's fastest JVM, which really didn't impress me in previous versions. I'm glad they finally released support for both J2SE 1.3.1 and 1.4.0. I'll definitely have to try it out.

javaNeil is another jEdit convert. jTalk was pretty much entirely developed using Slava's editor.

maciCal is out. Looks nice, but I'll stick to my WebCalendar.
