Death to MSNBot! I was just looking at my stats for last month, and noticed the following for MSNBot under the Robots/Spiders section:
More than 440MB of bandwidth? That's ten times more than any other bot/spider. I feel so violated.

Dream Phone

My Dream Phone. Yesterday, Nokia introduced the 6680, which looks very sleek. There are still a few things which I think are missing to make it my ultimate dream phone.
What's with the proprietary connector on Nokia phones? Give me a stereo headphone jack and a standard USB 2.0 port, please. Put a 5GB hard disk in the thing so I don't have to carry my Carbon, iPod or USB stick around, will ya? Let me flash the phone via USB. I don't really want to have to ship my phone overseas to upgrade your buggy firmware. Global Positioning. Can you imagine how much more useful all of these location-based services (directions, maps, etc) would be if they already knew where I was? WiFi. I know you must've heard of it. Voice Tags are really nice, but how about some basic voice-based dialing functionality: "Dial 555 1212". I'm not really dreaming. All of these things are coming in one form or another. The first manufacturer to package everything into one sleek phone is going to be on top for a very, very long time.

Nokia 6680/6681   Matt is doing a nice job keeping track of all the 3GSM announcements. [@500]
Valentine/Anniversary
 Happy Valentine's Day
Today's is also our Wedding Anniversary. The plan? Dinner at Anthony's. Apart from the usual trinkets, I bought an unusual gift. Something the two of us will, hopefully, enjoy.

Planned Outage The power company will be replacing a couple of polls down the street this morning. We have been notified that the power will be out from 9am to 1pm. I guess it'll give the servers some overdue rest.

Looks like the power never went out. Typical.

Erik's Pulse has been published. [@016]
Dell 2001FP is here. The Dell 2001FP arrived this morning, ahead of schedule. It was a breeze to setup by following the 7 steps poster. I hooked it up on my workstation via DVI, the screen looks quite nice. I haven't had time to do much more, but so far, so good.
Six by Six We went to the vet yesterday for Six's follow up. Everybody was very impressed. Six is so lively now, back to her old self. Quite amazing for a hamster that was pretty pretty much on her death bed a week ago. We're going to stop the hydration therapy, unless needed. We're also stopping all medications, but one. I'm sure she'll appreciate that.

Dell Shipping Interesting… Dell's invoice indicated the 2001FP would ship on February 11, but it actually shipped today. I guess it's safer for them to overestimate. BTW, when did Dell start charging sales tax in Washington State? [@533]
TreeSize Another freeware gem, TreeSize, which lists the size of directories. I found it mentioned in Leo Laporte's old show notes. [@515]
Dell 2001FP I just ordered a Dell UltraSharp 2001FP 20.1-inch Flat Panel LCD Monitor. The price was just right. It should go quite nicely with the laptops.

SyncBack On his latest podcast, Steve Holden, mentioned SyncBack. There are so few tools that let you backup over FTP that I thought I'd give it a try. I like it quite a lot. You might want to check it out. [@426]
LifeBlogger Update I just updated LifeBlogger. Someone had reported that it did not work with Lifeblog 1.5, but it worked fine for me. I did fix a nasty problem with binary file uploads.
