Rick is looking for an open source calendar tag library. I'd be interested in such a taglib too. I've been thinking about implementing some kind of calendar for this blog for quite a while now.

Brent has released TigerLaunch 1.0b1. Nifty.

It'd be even cooler if you could drag a document onto one of the application in the menu to open it. Maybe it can be done via a contextual menu or something. That's why I keep a folder with all of my apps in the dock.

Apache AXIS 1.0 RC1 is now available. I used one of the early release to build jTalk's Web Services client tags. The feature set was pretty limited. I'll definitely have to revisit it soon.

Macromedia ships ColdFusion MX for Java. Three years ago, everybody assumed I was losing my marbles, when I predicted that CF would ultimately move to Java. Guess who's laughing now?

The world's fastest JVM, which really didn't impress me in previous versions. I'm glad they finally released support for both J2SE 1.3.1 and 1.4.0. I'll definitely have to try it out.

Neil is another jEdit convert. jTalk was pretty much entirely developed using Slava's editor.

iCal is out. Looks nice, but I'll stick to my WebCalendar.

I just finished installing Windows XP SP1, so far everything looks good. Knock on wood.

On Saturday nite, I installed 10.2 on my PowerBook and Vicki's iMac.

The PowerBook install was flawless, except for taking close to 5 hours. I have no idea why it took so long.

The iMac install only took a couple hours. Unfortunately, there is a bug with Jaguar and Rev A. iMacs which prevents the screen geometry settings from being saved on restart. Very annoying. Hopefully, Apple will provide some kind of fix soon.

I've installed SpamAssassin on our mail server. Going to give it a try for a bit. We'll see how effective it really is.

The damned thing still works!

I spent most of yesterday's reinstalling Windows XP on my primary development machine. It never really recovered since the Mozilla attack.

A pretty smooth install overall. Except for one problem with Norton SystemWorks 2002, which took me a little while to isolate.

At least it gave me a chance to clean things up; lean and mean. I like it.

I think it may have been M$ not so subtle way to let me know I needed to get ready for the imminent SP 1 release.

In case you've been living on another planet or something, my girl, Kelly, won. She was on Leno last night, and is doing the morning shows tour. Unfortunately, her voice is completely shot.

I solved my IDE problems a long time ago. I use a combination of Eclipse, IDEA, CodeWarrior and Sun One Studio (formerly known as Forte). As far as text editors: jEdit, UltraEdit, Visual SlickEdit and BBEdit.

They all have pluses and minuses. It all comes down to choosing the best tool for the task at hand.

The music industry reminds me of a dog chasing its tail. Pointless. The slump has very little to do with peer-to-peer music sharing. In the grand schema of things, it is insignificant. The problem lies solely with all the crap being constantly shoved down the audience throat. Given time, they will spit it back.

Yes. I do not buy as many CDs as I once did. The industry is too fickled. Everything is tailored towards teens, which have the attention span of a lollipop. The flavor of the day, no doubt an overnight sensation, will be featured on VH1's One Hit Wonders next week.
