NetNewsWire, SpamAssassin

macNetNewsWire 1.0 has been released. Congrats on the smooth delivery, Brent.

linuxLinux Developers: Robertson's Lindows is a Piece of Crap.

usWe've ordered a 433MHz G4 iMac Upgrade for Vicki's machine.

linuxI've upgraded SpamAssassin to version 2.4.1 using the new source RPM. Here are the steps I used under Red Hat 7.3:

    wget http://www.kluge.net/ftp/pub/felicity/SRPMS/spamassassin-2.41-1.src.rpm
    rpm -ivh spamassassin-2.41-1.src.rpm
    cd /usr/src/redhat/SPECS
rpm -ba -vv --target i686 spamassassin.spec

Once completed the RPMS will be located in

/usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i686.

To install a new RPM:

    rpm -ivh <filename>.rpm

To upgrade/freshen an existing RPM:

    rpm -Fvh <filename>.rpm

newsAccording to the New York Times, Spam is estimated to count for 32% of all email sent. That's roughly two billion pieces of junk sent on a daily basis.

musicLogo might identify copy-protected CDs. Piffle. I really like Bon Jovi's approach though.

personalMy partner is selling his old PowerBook on eBay.

javaJason issued a Call to Arms, and Mike is already offering a news aggregator prototype. Count me in too. I don't know much about WebWork, but I'm a quick study.

macMac OS X 10.1.1 Update sneak peek. I don't see anything relating to the original iMac screen geometry bug. Bummer.

blogThe RSS 2.0 debate degenerates. This is becoming completely ridiculous.

People have to understand one thing: RSS 2.0 is not an open standard. It just masquerades as one. The underlaying purpose is to promote UserLand's products.

Everything become a lot clearer when you keep that in mind.

linuxRed Hat 8.0 to launch this month.

macLasso 3.x goes bye-bye. Sniff. Lots of blood, sweat and tears went into the original release. Turning a Mac-only product into a viable cross-platform middleware was an interesting experience.

newsThe First Smiley :-)

javaI've implemented a calendar for the news page. I used jTalk and a slightly modified version of the Coldbeans Calendar tag library.

It's definitely not as elegant as Mike's <webwork:calendar/> design sketch, but then again it only took less than 30 minutes to implement, test and deploy. KISS.

I've also upgraded the server to Tomcat 4.1.10 which seems to provide a significant performance boost. The install wasn't as painless as it could have been. The RPM replaced my server.xml configuration file and forgot to tell me about it.

sexyFresh. Sexy. Clean. Whatever she's selling, I'm buying.

meI just found out I'm a dumbfuck. Why don't they tell me these things? I'm always the last one to find out.:-P
