The Great Green Giveaway Competiton

<1 min read

Life Goggles is on my daily reading list. The site provides great Green products reviews and news.

They've just announced one of the biggest eco competition on the web, which is a pretty smart way to attract attention to the site and promote more green awareness.

There are a bunch prizes for grab; gadgets, books, clothing/accessories and more. All green, of course.

Entering the contest is pretty straight forward. You can either sign up for their newsletter, post a blog entry about the contest, subscribe to the feed, etc. Each good for one entry into the giveaway.

Exactly 100 words.

Starbucks Lid Recycling

Not very often do we sit down at a Starbucks. We're the 'drive-thru' kinda people, but not today.

Earlier today we went to a local Starbucks and sat down to drink our Mocha and Chai Tea. As soon as we were done I took our lids to the Barrista and asked her if they recycled them. She told me they did not and added "I know. I feel pretty bad about it."

Well, so do I. I know Howard Schultz is trying to clean up his company right now. I think it is time for Starbucks to really become an environmentally conscientious company too.

Snow 'Storm'

We missed the snow 'storm', literally. We were at dinner when it happened. It was barely raining when we left.

Amazing how much snow can accumulate in less than 3 hours.

QuickGPS Registry Fix

QuickGPS stopped working on my HTC Touch Cruise a few days ago. Each time I would try to update it, I'd get some sort of connection failure.

I did a bit of research and found out that I'm not the only one with the problem. I tried every hack found on xda-developers to no avail; nothing worked.

Without QuickGPS it can take up to 4 or 5 minutes to get a GPS fix. Quite annoying.

I pretty much figured out that the problem was related to one of the hosts QuickGPS uses, but changing the registry keys to a different host didn't help.

I was about to give up when as a last ditch effort I decided to see if I was getting the same problem on my recently upgraded AT&T Tilt… Nope… QuickGPS worked like a charm.

I then decided to copy the QuickGPS registry entries from my Tilt to the Touch Cruise to see if that would fix the problem. It did!

I used Task Manager to replace the entire QuickGPS registry group with the following:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTCQuick\GPS]
