Home Sweet Home
How sweet it'll be, indeed.
10 days ago, I walked into the ER. Today I'm being discharged, finally going back home.
I've lost a few internal parts (some good, some bad), gained a few external ones.
This room has been my home away from home for 10 long days. Time to part ways, and hope we'll never see each other again.
I've surely gained a whole new respect for nurses, assistants and volunteers. Thank you all.
Thanks to all our friends and family for providing moral support (and a few laughs) on FaceBook.
And last but definitely not least, thanks to Vicki. I couldn't have made it with you, babe. :-)
I Know Nothing
Surgery went well, or so I was told… I remember nothing.

I opted not to do the epidural for post-op pain. Hydromorphone (Dilaudid) is what they put me on. It worked but made me quite woozy. I'm on acetaminophen (Tylenol) now.
I still have the NG tube in, so I can't really get any good sleep. Cat naps only.
Surgery Update

Tomorrow is d-day, 11 am.
Just talked to the resident surgeon, and things are not looking as well as expected. They have decided to go with full-frontal incisions instead of laparoscopy. The small bowel is too inflamed, they are afraid to mess things up. Epidural, here I come.
More annoyingly, because of the inflammation, I will most likely end up with a loop ileostomy. Not quite what I was hoping for, but I should be able to recover relatively quickly. I'll need another surgery to reverse it in a few months.
Thanks to everyone who sent well-wishes, called, etc. It's all very much appreciated. Vicki will be posting updates on FaceBook. I'll be high on narcotics.
