====== How to install a package (.ipk) on the Pre (Windows) ====== * Install the [[http://developer.palm.com/index.php?option=com_ajaxregister&view=register&sdkdownload|SDK]] * Enable Developer Mode on the Pre: * In Card view or in the Launcher application, type the following: ''upupdowndownleftrightleftrightbastart'' * Tap the resulting ''Developer Mode Enabler'' icon. * In the application, move the ''Developer Mode'' slider to the ''On'' position. * Tap ''Reset the Device''. * When reset is complete, Developer mode is enabled.\ * If you are running a 64-bit flavor of Windows, you'll need to install a 64-bit version of the Novacom driver by: * Extracting the installer directly from the [[http://palm.cdnetworks.net/rom/pre_p100eww/webosdoctorp100ewwsprint.jar|webOS Doctor archive]]. Simply rename the archive to ''.zip'', open, extract and install. * Or by installing the [[http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/pre/recoverytool/webos_java_sprint.html|webOS Doctor]], but don't connnect your phone when asked, just quit. * Connect the Pre via USB * Select ''Just Charge'' on the Pre * Open a command (''cmd.exe'') window in the location of the ipk * Issue the following command: palm-install foo.ipk
