Purpose

Jalopy is a source code formatter for the Sun Java programming language. It layouts any valid Java source code (including comments) according to some widely configurable rules - to meet a certain coding style without putting a formatting burden on individual developers.

Jalopy aims to support the widest range of coding styles and offers over 450 distinct configuration options to define formatting output. An easy-to-use customization GUI is provide to let you interactively craft your desired coding style. Jalopy seamlessly integrates into most popular Java IDE's to make source code formatting really easy and an integral part of any source code editing.

But the tool is not merely about style and contains many features that makes you more productive. Braces can be automatically inserted, Javadoc comments generated and updated, imports optimized, serial version UID generated, headers/footers maintained. Jalopy includes Plug-ins for Ant, Eclipse/WSAD/RAD, IDEA, JBuilder, JDeveloper, jEdit, Maven and NetBeans/Sun ONE Studio, but can be used stand-alone as well as integrated into other 3rd party software.

Jalopy supports all J2SE 5.0 language features and runs on all Java-supported platforms. A 1.3 or later VM is required.


Licensing

Jalopy is licensed on a per-user basis. Pricing starts at USD $40 for a Single-User license. Discounts are granted for Multi-User licenses. Site/Team licenses are available as well and come with full source code.

It is understood that there is interest in the community and as you know, there are plans to provide a free version for FOSS projects. But resources are limited and the focus is naturally given to paying customers first. My apologies, but it takes its time.
