Yellow Dog, Wallstreet and MA401

<1 min read

Here are the steps I had to take to make my NETGEAR MA401 802.11b Wireless PCMCIA card to work on my PowerBook Wallstreet G3 under Yellow Dog Linux 3.0.

  1. Download and compile/install the latest version of the Linux PCMCIA card service.
  2. Edit /etc/sysconfig/pcmcia to read:
    PCMCIA=yes
    PCIC=yenta_socket
  3. Reboot with the PC card inserted in one of the slots.
  4. In the Network System Settings panel, create a new Wireless connection device using the Lucent Orinoco and Prism II-based PCMCIA wireless adapter.

The same procedure should work for any Prism2-based PC card.
