WIP320 Compatible Headset?

<1 min read

I've posted the following on the Linksys Community Forum:

Has anybody been able to find a headset compatible with the WIP320? I have tried 4 or 5 of them, without any luck. I can hear fine but the mic is not working. Now, the specs states that he headset plug is a 2.5mm 4 segments, which could explain why none of the headsets I tried worked. But I have not been able to locate a 4 segments headset anywhere. I've talked to a Live Chat agent who suggested using a Plantronics M170, which is a 3 segment headset. I don't see how the M170 would work any differently than any of the headsets I tried. Thanks, E.

Let me know if you have any suggestions. I'm thinking I have a defective unit and probably should get it replaced.

I'm sure you've read this.

Your experience & others has convinced me not to buy this phone.

Now, when a Bluetooth-ready one comes out, I'll be all over that.

What were they thinking?

From Christina Ravens Bridges on Amazon:

The headset jack which other reviewers say is broken or
non-functional is in fact a non-standard 4 connector jack (most
headset jacks are 3 connector, one for earphone sound, one for mic
input, and one for ground).

Some mobile phones have stereo sound for MP3 playback, and use a 4
connector jack, but Skype is not a stereo service. There is no
documentation from Linksys on what the pinout of that 4 connector jack
is.

If you use an adapter cable such as the PPC Techs XDA/SX56 2.5mm STD
Mono Headset Adaptor, it allows you to use a standard headset with the
WIP320.

MobilePlanet sells that adapter, I have tested it today, and it
finally allows me to use a standard Plantronics headset with my
WIP320.

Daniel:

I've already ordered the adapter as suggested on the Linksys forum. I was "this" close to returning the phone.

Thanks,

E.

I just received the adapter and can confirm that it works.
